Potato Cultivars
Colorado State University and Cooperatively Released Cultivars
Since 1975 there have been 28 potatoes named by the Colorado State University Potato Breeding and Selection Program in the San Luis Valley of Colorado. Market classes represented are russets, reds, specialties, and chippers. Another 19 cultivars were cooperatively released with other programs.
Russets
Centennial Russet (WQ12-3 x Nooksack) is a medium yielding fresh market russet. It has an excellent culinary quality for baking and boiling, and storage potential. It has oblong blocky tubers with heavy russet skin and white flesh.
Silverton Russet (AC83064-6: CalWhite x A7875-5) is a high yielding dual purpose russet. It has high yield potential and a high percentage of US No. 1 tubers. The attractive oblong tubers are resistant to most internal and external defects.
Keystone Russet (CalWhite x A7875-5) is a high yielding fresh market russet. It stores well and has few internal defects. It has oblong tubers with light russet skin and white flesh, with a high percentage of US No. 1 tubers.
Rio Grande Russet (AC89536-5RU: Butte x A8469-5) is a high yielding fresh market russet. It has attractive oblong tubers and a high percentage of US No. 1 tubers. Cultivar Management Sheet
Canela Russet (AC92009-4RU: A8343-12 x A8784-3) is a medium yielding fresh market russet with a very high percentage of US No. 1 tubers. Tubers are oblong-long with a long dormancy. Cultivar Management Sheet

Nonpareil Russet (CO98067-7RU: Silverton Russet x TC1675-1) is a high yielding russet with fresh and processing potential. It has a medium-early vine maturity and a high percentage of US No. 1 tubers. The long tubers have a medium-heavy russet skin and are resistant to internal and external grade defects.
Maritime Russet (CO97087-2RU: CO87009-4 x W1005) is a high yielding russet with fresh and processing potential. It has a medium vine maturity and a high percentage of US No. 1 tubers. The oblong tubers have a heavy russet skin.
Rocky Mountain Russet (CO05068-1RU: AWN86514-2 x CO98009-3RU) is a high yielding dual purpose russet with fresh and processing potential. It has a high percentage US No. 1 tubers. The vine has a late maturity. Cultivar Management Sheet
Top Cat (Russet Nugget x Lemhi Russet) is a high yielding russet with long term storage potential. It has a high specific gravity. Tubers are oblong.
