Being a certified seed grower is voluntary. Seed growers agree to abide by Certification Rules and Regulations in order to qualify seed potato lots within their farming operations as certified seed. The Colorado Seed Potato Act dictates certain requirements for seed lots coming into the state. This tool helps to explain disease tolerances and additional testing required of seed lots for various situations.

Late Blight Protocol:

The Colorado San Luis Valley has established a Late Blight Quarantine on all potatoes shipped into the valley. This document details testing protocols needed prior to shipping. This quarantine is overseen by the Colorado Department of Agriculture.
